Example of a bespoke orangery to extend the kitchen

Here is a fine example of what you can do to extend the living area of the house;  extend the kitchen and provide much more space and light in the kitchen.  Overall giving a much more pleasurable experience to anyone working in the kitchen or wanting to relax and communicate whilst others are cooking and preparing in the kitchen.

The orangery is a new extension to the house providing a large casual living space for at least 8 people. (The dining table can accommodate 12)

The suite of bifolding doors and sliding doors gives level access to a large paved terrace.
The orangery floor is of durable yet warm synthetic tiles and the roof lantern is minimalistic yet beautiful.
The wet system under floor heating ensures continuous warmth that means the orangery can be used all year round.
In the hotter months the type of glass prevents too much heat entry and the ceiling vents ensure any excess hot air is expelled.

The clients are delighted with our design.

For those interested here is another more detailed article about this same project....."We successfully converted the rear of this 6 bedroom house in West Sussex.
The project was to provide an appropriate large kitchen / dining space commensurate with the size of the house that also gained visual and practical access to the lovely gardens.

Internally - The house had a small dining extension accessed by a narrow internal archway from the kitchen. The dining extension was an eyesore on the property and had subsidence affecting its stability
By clever designing inside we created a much larger dining and living area easily seating 10 to 12 people and with open plan by a peninsular feature to the kitchen.  The kitchen only lost 2 wall cupboards but gained a great feeling of space and engagement with the dining area eradicating the ‘loneliness’ of a separate kitchen and offering a wonderful view of the garden
Views of the garden not only to appreciate the flora and forna but the children playing is a must these days so the provision of large patio doors and bifolding doors gives maximum visibility and also when open an integrated space with the patio outside for those parties and bar-BBQs.
The central glazed lantern gives an added dimension of light and roof space which with 2 automatic roof windows there is plenty of ventilation when required whilst also continuing the feeling of an extension by not being too big. A glazed lantern also allows interesting views of what is happening in the sky above.

Externally - Outside the orangery extension needed not to look like a bolt on extension so attention to detail of the provision of 2 roof gables softens the impact and ties it in with the existing house features.
The colour of the doors and lantern add a contemporary look without clashing with the original house – a decision is being made about the existing white French doors after the winter!

The old unsteady decking has been replaced with a wrap around lovely Indian sandstone patio which allows a safe play area for the children and plenty of options to sit in or out of the sun as required.
All the doors and lantern have the latest and most effective double glazing including self cleaning glass in the roof!

Admins - We enabled all the planning and building regulation requirements, the thermal calculations and the structural engineering requirements etc.

It was a pleasure working with such an engaged and discerning customer who appreciated the work and professionalism applied by ourselves.
